A DECADE OF EXPLORING CONSCIOUSNESS
I've spent the last decade exploring consciousness, psychedelic medicines, spirituality, and the deeper corners of my own psyche.
That exploration has shaped not only how I understand myself, but how I approach supporting others through their own journeys.
A LITTLE ABOUT WHERE I COME FROM
I was born in Vancouver, or Burnaby technically, but moved to England almost immediately.
I spent the first eight years of my life there. My dad owned and operated one of the biggest pubs in England, so I grew up surrounded by classic British pub culture — an interesting contrast to the world I find myself working in now.
I grew up with my younger sister, surrounded by a lot of love and family. We were lucky to have family spread across the UK, Canada, Spain, and San Diego, and I had the privilege of travelling to many of those places from a young age.
“I’ve always been curious about what the world had to offer.”
I was an energetic and outgoing kid. I loved drawing and doodling, music, being outdoors, and playing imaginary games in the garden.
WHAT BROUGHT ME HERE
My relationship with psychedelics started with cannabis in high school. Some powerful experiences sparked a curiosity about consciousness and eventually led me toward mushrooms and a deeper exploration of the psyche.
I became fascinated by thinkers like Terence McKenna, Alan Watts, Ram Dass, and Rupert Sheldrake, and started exploring questions around consciousness, spirituality, and what it means to understand ourselves.
I probably dabbled a little too deeply for my age and experience, and some of those experiences taught me the hard way why integration matters. At the same time, they opened something profound in me and ultimately led me toward a process of rebuilding myself from a new foundation.
ONE EXPERIENCE CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF MY LIFE
While commuting home from UBC, I listened to a Sam Harris meditation called Looking for the Self and had a profound non-dual experience.
I couldn't fully understand or articulate it at the time, but years later I've come to see it as a major shift in how I understood myself and the direction I wanted my life to take.
I love hiking and have explored almost all of the local hikes on the North Shore. I've always felt lucky to have mountains, ocean, rivers and lakes so close to Vancouver.
I was a lifeguard for 10 years, so water has always felt like a second home. I'm a water baby through and through.
Music has always been one of my greatest passions. I played guitar growing up and played in a neo-soul funk band called Gentle Mind while I was at UBC.
