Private Session

Blending clinical and nature-based modalities in a safe and supportive setting

The Process

  • Preparation

After completing a thorough intake process, we begin our preparation phase. Here we take the time to build trust and work together to co-create and articulate intentions that you would like to bring into your journey. We introduce you to modalities like breathwork and cold exposure which can help support your nervous system leading up to your journey day.

    (1-2 weeks)

  • Journey

Lift off. This day is dedicated to your ceremony. Our private ceremonies are co-facilitated by a male and female practitioner duo. Most journeys last between 4-8 hours but this can vary depending on the medicine you decide to work with. We set aside the entire day for you to ensure that whatever unfolds is held. We offer a unique blend of both inward directed journeying and nature-based therapies to support you in making the most of your experience.

  • Integration

The most important aspect of any psychedelic experience is the integration that comes after. During this phase, we take the time to anchor insights and sensations that came up during your journey and weave them into your everyday life. The ceremony does not end when the journey ends. Integration is what counts.

    (1-2 weeks)

  • Community

Effective integration requires community. We are proud to be partnered with one of the worlds largest and most diverse psychedelic communities to provide ongoing support. All Legacy Journey clients receive a free membership with The Flying Sage which unlocks professional support, courses and access to virtual and in-person events.

FAQ

  • In most cases, we host our individual ceremonies in a private home in Kitsilano. In some cases however, we do offer ceremonies at the homes of our clients and in other cities such as Squamish, Whistler, Victoria and other parts of Vancouver Island.

  • Integration is the process of weaving the insights gained from a psychedelic experience into one’s day to day life. It is a crucial aspect to any work with psychedelic medicines and it is something that we focus from start to finish. We believe integration starts during the preparation phase and continues long after the ceremony itself is complete.

  • We are flexible with scheduling individual sessions. Typically we start with scheduling the ceremony day and then work backwards from there to schedule preparation and integration sessions.

Given that our retreats are typically scheduled on weekends, we usually have more flexibility for weekday journeys when it comes to private sessions.

  • For individual experiences, we ask every client to fill out our intake form first which can be found here.

After our team has had the chance to review your intake form and determined that our offerings will be a good fit for you, we will then send over our waiver and steps on how to reserve your date with a deposit.

  • Yes. We try to offer partial scholarships every quarter depending on what we have available. We use a self-selecting sliding scale model where we invite participants to pay based on their unique income level and life situation. Proceeds from this sliding scale are dedicated to providing $400 partial scholarships to spots in our retreats.

We do not currently offer partial scholarships for private sessions.

  • Yes, in some circumstance we are able to come to you. If you are interested in this option, please reach out to us at info@legacyjourneys.ca

  • Absolutely. Nearly half of our clients come to us with little or no prior psychedelic experience. You don't need to have done this before to be ready for it.

Our preparation process is designed to meet you exactly where you are. Over 3 sessions before your journey, we'll walk through everything — what to expect, how to prepare your body and mind, how to work with whatever comes up, and how to set a clear intention. By the time you sit in ceremony, you'll feel informed, supported, and ready.

If you're feeling called to this work, that curiosity is enough.

  • Many of our clients have done years of talk therapy — CBT, EMDR, somatic work — and found it genuinely helpful. But at a certain point, some people hit a ceiling. They describe it as a plateau: the intellectual understanding is there, but something deeper hasn't shifted.

A facilitated psychedelic journey is not a replacement for therapy. It's a different kind of door. Where therapy often works through conversation and cognition, this work can access layers of emotion, memory, and pattern that talk alone may not reach. Many clients describe it as doing years of therapeutic work in a single day.

We often work alongside our clients' existing therapists and counsellors, and we always encourage continuing that support through integration.

  • Every private session at Legacy Journeys is usually held by two facilitators. This is intentional.

The two-facilitator model is the same approach used in clinical psychedelic research at institutions like Johns Hopkins and Imperial College London. There's a few reasons for this. One of the main ones is so that we can offer a healthy balance of masculine and feminine energy in the container that we created.

For clients with trauma histories, or for anyone navigating a high-dose experience, having two facilitators isn't a luxury — it's a meaningful layer of safety and care.

  • We take medication interactions seriously. During the preparation process, we'll review everything you're currently taking and any medications you've recently discontinued.

Some medications — particularly SSRIs, SNRIs, and certain antidepressants — can interact with both psilocybin and MDMA. In some cases, a tapering conversation with your prescriber may be needed before we can proceed safely. We'll walk you through this and, where appropriate, recommend you consult with your doctor or a pharmacist on our team.

There are a small number of medications that are absolute contraindications — most notably lithium and MAOIs. If either applies to you, we'll discuss this honestly during your discovery call.

Your safety is the foundation everything else is built on.

Her approach to facilitation is grounded in respect for autonomy, informed consent, and safety. She is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel free to explore their inner selves without fear of judgment. Gabrielle has recently completed a Somatic Embodiment Training, which has deepened her understanding of the mind-body connection and how it relates to the psychedelic experience.

Held By Two

Michael and Gabrielle have been partners in life and in this work for four years — a connection that began at an ecstatic dance event and has since grown into a meaningful collaboration and dance.

In ceremony, that partnership becomes something you can feel. We've found that a container held by both grounded masculine and feminine energy creates something neither of us could hold alone… a space that is simultaneously safe and expansive, structured and alive. Clients often tell us that what they noticed most wasn't the medicine. It was the presence.

Here's how one client described their experience working with us privately:

"My partner and I worked with Michael and Gabrielle in a private setting, and what unfolded was one of the most professionally held, emotionally transformative and intellectually grounded processes I've ever encountered. I'm extremely skeptical by default, but this wasn't spiritual fluff or performative 'healing.' It was structured, calm and deeply human. The level of care, presence, and ethical responsibility they brought to every step of the journey — from preparation to integration — was extraordinary. It's hard to put into words how meaningful this was, but I'll say this: if more people had access to experiences held with this level of integrity, I think we'd be living in a very different world." - CS
